    Job Details:
    Purpose

    Sonar and underwater acoustics development with an emphasis on algorithm and sonar system design, signal processing, data analysis in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

    Responsibilities
    • Design, implementation and evaluation of sonar related signal processing, target tracking and classification algorithms.
    • Analysis and validation of sonar data.
    • Clearly communicate and coordinate ideas with varied engineering/development groups and sponsors.
    • Supervise student(s) in support of your research/engineering effort.
    • Travel in support of data collection and system evaluation efforts.
    • Other related functions as assigned.
    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, physics or other related discipline.
    • Experience or course work in one or more areas: signal processing, sonar/acoustics or radar/antenna design.
    • Experience in programming such as Python or MATLAB.
    • Familiarity with computer systems.
    Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.

    US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, applied math or physics
    • Two or more years of work/research experience with signal/image processing.
    • Two or more years of work/research experience with sonar/acoustics or radar/antenna design.
    • Knowledge of statistical data analysis.
    • Experience with collection of imperfect data.
    • Knowledge of Linux
    • Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

    Salary Range

    $88,500-$120,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:
    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
