Description
Navigators perform intakes, assessments, and transitional assistance to patients at the Capital District Psychiatric Center. The team also assists adolescents transitioning to community mental health services.

Our goal is to help clients secure housing, benefits, and employment support so that they may live independently within our community.

The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society is nonprofit dedicated to preventing, reducing, and combatting homelessness. We offer competitive wages, full benefits, and a sense of accomplishment. Navigators work Monday through Friday. This is a full-time position, with benefits and the option to work remotely two days per week.


Position Requirements:


  • An Associate Degree or bachelor's degree (preferred) in the Human Services, Chemical Addiction, Psychology, or similar field.
  • Reliable access to an insured vehicle that can be used for consumer transportation.
  • Proof of COVID 19 Vaccination.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel programs, or the willingness to learn how to use these programs.
  • Prior experience working with human services and mental health programs, or a passion to learn these systems to become an expert on these resources.
  • Passion for working with people from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and goals.
  • The ability to manage working time, stay organized, and communicate effectively across communication styles.
  • A collection of selfcare skills, and the ability to set strong boundaries.
  • The drive to serve the community as part of a collaborative team.
  • Substance use education, fluency in multiple languages, and personal experience with human services preferred.
  • Members of marginalized groups including but not limited to people of color, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people living with disabilities, and people from working class backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
