- Develops, implements, evaluates, and assesses the education programs in schools and communities with appropriate materials addressing identified family and community needs and responds to questions about food, food safety, and nutrition through cultural relevancy and appropriate nutrition programming.
- Utilizes a variety of available delivery modes to provide educational programs and opportunities supported by research and evidence-based results from affiliated programs and universities.
- Works collaboratively with other agencies and service providers to effectively address District of Columbia, DC Metro area, and national program priorities.
- Collects information with program sponsors, advisory groups, and other appropriate stakeholders as directed.
- Fosters leadership development and offers opportunities for practicing and implementing leadership skills.
- Networks with other professionals and agencies to effectively serve the needs of individuals, families, and communities.
- Participates in collaborative alliances to link public and private organizations to promote and coordinate family and consumer science education for identified residents of the District.
- Maintains and completes required reports, including budget, plan of work, program outcomes and achievements, and other documentation needed for program effectiveness.
- Maintains high productivity standards, prioritizes tasks effectively, and manages resources (time, materials, and staff) in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of individuals' protected health information.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with the Director of the CNDH, and other staff within CNDH, CAUSES and UDC.
- Serves as a resource for educators, community groups, and agencies that serve families, individuals, and communities in the District of Columbia.
- Facilitates public decision-making affecting families and provides public policy education when appropriate.
- Monitors and evaluates neighborhood and District wide demographic trends for use in program and community development.
- Assists in identifying funding sources and writing grants to expand and improve nutrition programming and participates in interagency meetings, task forces, and projects as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned including special assignments related to nutrition and health and other needs of the community.

- A Bachelor's degree (Master's degree is preferred) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or a related discipline.
- Completion of an educational program in dietetics and supervised practice programs approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required
- Three (3) years of experience with increasing responsibility for community education required.
- Teaching experience in planned educational programs preferred.
- Driver's license and vehicle required.

Brief Description of Duties
We are seeking a Senior Program Coordinator who will report to the Director of the Center for Nutrition, Diet and Health (CNDH), one of five land-grant Centers of the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC).
The Senior Program Coordinator will coordinate the work of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) to carry out community nutrition education across the eight (8) wards spanning all age groups.
The Senior Program Coordinator provides leadership to the EFNEP program coordinators and students.This position has supervisory responsibilities and will serve as a Lead Coordinator that reviews and directs the work of those assigned in the EFNEP program.
The incumbent must be a team player, work effectively and efficiently with diverse internal and external constituencies, perform all duties with a high degree of efficiency, communicate effectively, work well under pressure and be familiar (or familiarize themselves) with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of CAUSES, UDC, and program sponsors.
The Senior Program Coordinator has the responsibility for tracking all activities in the EFNEP program including all teaching activities, and program participants with the required program reporting in the national database, WEBNEERS.
The incumbent will determine the needs of the individuals and families through focus groups, discussion-decisions sessions, partners, and surveys to strengthen current nutrition classes and develop and create new classes based on the needs of the target audiences.
Regular working hours will sometimes require evenings and weekends based on the class schedules for the participating groups.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director for CNDH, the incumbent will provide programmatic leadership for EFNEP in the areas of nutrition education, food safety, resource management and physical activity for selected sites in the community.
The incumbent is also responsible for planning and teaching nutrition education, food safety, and physical activity classes to low-income individuals and families within the designated service area in the District of Columbia.

If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment.
Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.Drug-Free Workplace:
