Job Summary:


The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Habilitation Nurse Supervisor.

DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member-driven.

These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.


Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.


Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs medical record, medication observation, and medication room audits; analyzes findings, provides immediate staff retraining or issue resolution, when necessary, suggests process improvements and provides audit findings to management. Monitors documentation by nursing staff to ensure accuracy and thoroughness. Completes the medical information for the monthly trending report.
  • Conducts onsite visits to monitor/supervise nursing care quality by subordinate staff & registry; provides emergency care; provides nursing assessments & health care/treatments; consults direct care staff on member health care needs. Provides immediate feedback/retraining when issues related to health care are noted. Provides oversight to various contracts providing services including pharmacy, nutritional, and dental.
  • Monitors nursing staff's performance. Meets with subordinates to resolve problems and questions regarding medical issues concerning members, work processes, policies, and organization. Assists with or participates fully in investigations regarding medical management of care.
  • Notes orders, prepares reports, documents results of assessments, and completes other necessary documentation as established by procedures and directives. Assists with hospital discharge planning.
  • Meets/confers with Medical Care Services staff, physicians, pharmacies, health plans, nursing staff, and other professionals as well as nonprofessionals on issues related to the health care needs of members.
  • Oncall is required for this position.

Selective Preference(s):

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing AND a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience including the care of people with developmental disabilities AND a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Required at time of appointment: possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona. Employment may be contingent upon the completion of a postoffer medical/physical examination and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
