Job Description - Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Test HMA (Hot Mixed Asphalt) for mix properties and adherence to specifications, at our plants and in the field on job sites.
• Report to paving worksites to perform asphalt compaction testing.
• Work independently with a paving crew sampling and cutting cores in placed asphalt to test for density.
• Testing for liquid content, specific gravity, compaction, gradation and temperature.
• Test aggregates for gradation and consensus properties.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Work Activities include:

• Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
• Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
• Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Job Requirements:

• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
• Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crews can operate at normal efficiency level.
• Attitude/Cooperation, must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with coworkers, customers, and public.
• Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required.
• Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.

Work Environment:

• Physical ability to work under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 810 hours.
• May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
• May be exposed to vehicular traffic and must follow all MOT procedures.

Safety:

• Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition. Personal Protective Gear Provided, with exception to work boots.
• Hired employees will receive safety training and hence forth must always maintain the safety standards outlined within the company safety program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• HMA Plant, Level I
• HMA Plan, Level II
