Job Purpose


The Human Resources Business Partner carries out responsibilities in the functional areas relating to employee relations, compensation, performance management, training/onboarding, benefits administration, and recruiting.

This position report to the VP, Human Resources (head of function) and will help create and deliver people strategies across the company.

This role will require the ability to partner with all units of our global business, with specific focus on our Corporate US team.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coach business group leadership on people strategy, including team structure (organizational design), strategic hiring, performance management, compensation, recognition, and learning and development.
  • Be a key contributor to reimagining or upleveling companywide HR Programs, such as the Performance Review process, Employee Opinion Survey, Manager Development training, and Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Supervises, mentors, and develops the HR Coordinator and HR Generalist to ensure succession planning and continued growth of the HR team.
  • Integrates and partners with HR colleagues in the Recruiting, Learning & Development, Organizational Development and Generalist teams to implement solutions and help scale the business
  • Guides leadership and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies and procedures. Effectively communicates and enforces these actions in order to ensure organizational values are being maintained.
  • Advises management and ensures compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources.
  • Prepares, updates, and recommends human resource policies and procedures based off of Human Resources best practices and incorporates them in the Employee Handbook.
  • Develops and delivers uptodate trainings for managers and employees to meet federal and state requirements (i.e. sexual harassment training, etc.)
  • Areas of reasonability include benefits administration and compensation; strategic benefit and compensation management in partnership with VP of Human Resources.
  • Conducts compensation reviews as it relates to periodic pay surveys, scheduling and conducting job evaluations, monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions and recommending, planning, and aiding the implementation of pay structure revisions.
  • Coordinates leave of absence and workers' comp leave matters, including inquiries, eligibility, and documentation in partnership with HR Coordinator and HR Generalist.
  • May back up the Corporate Recruiters during high volumes of hiring.
  • Interviews and assesses incoming leadership talent.
  • Works on department projects as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Master's degree in HR or similar filed highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources Business Partner role or equivalent.

  • Experience managing or supervising HR team members
  • Demonstrated success operating at a senior professional level, maintaining broad knowledge of HR policies and practices.
  • Understanding of benefit programs and demonstrates the ability to relay benefits information to team members.
  • Experience generating reports and using information to analytically assess HR programs.
  • Employee relations experience required.
  • Experience working in an environment with a high number of hourly employees (call center, manufacturing, health care, etc.) is preferred.
  • Prior experience managing or implementing compensation programs preferred.
  • SHRM and/or HRCI certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, create accurate and punctual reports, and share information and ideas with others.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work under broad supervision and exercise independent judgment with extremely low error rates.
  • Ability to work responsibly with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to consistently meet commitments, including attendance/punctuality requirements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Able to keep track of details to ensure work is performed accurately and completely.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
  • Ability to assess and identify causes of workplace issue and mediate conflict or make recommendations for resolution of conflicts.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and Time & Attendance systems required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOC contractor badge (security clearance).

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Essential physical requirements of this job include:

  • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive motion.
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, reach, kneel, bend, stoop, push/pull, and sit.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
