Overview:
TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a determined
Procurement Specialist in
San Jose, CA to join our team.

The pay range for this position is $85, $95,000.00.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • This is a nonexhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Initiates and or expedites purchase orders for material and services; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with operating departments and Material Control staff to ensure timely execution of material and services sourcing activities.
  • Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Supports the Contracts and Procurement Manager as a point of contact in the process of interviewing and communicating with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation coordination and inventory control and management.
  • Negotiates prices and delivery terms with guidance from Contracts and Procurement Manager for assigned responsibilities.
  • Coordinates, as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company operating departments and suppliers.
  • Monitors and maintains stocking levels in coordination with Material Control and other operating departments; ensures minimum stocking levels are maintained.
  • Reviews and monitors purchase orders, work orders, requisitions, and receivers to ensure proper flow and documentation of material and services from procurement to receipt of material or services.
  • Coordinates with Accounts Payable regarding proper billing, coding, and validation of vendor invoices versus company purchase orders.
  • Ensures goods and services are obtained in an effective manner and in compliance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, grant agreements, APTA, FTA and FRA regulations and other contractual requirements.
  • Works closely with all departments, project managers and the Material Control managers to meet procurement scope requirements such as identification of need, preparing specifications, sourcing qualified vendors, soliciting bid proposals and evaluating submitted proposals.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business administration, finance, or accounting.
  • Experience and knowledge of the railroad industry's concepts, practices, and procedures specifically in procurement and sourcing within a maintenance environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such Excel and Word, inventory software and the Internet.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, math, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in analyzing financial and technical data and an understanding of supply chain management.
  • Managing Processes, Inventory Control, Reporting Skills, Analyzing Information, Financial Management, Organizational Skills, Ethical Conduct, Project Management, Time Management, Ability to multitask with sense of urgency.

Pre-Employment Requirements:


  • Subject to preemployment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to preemployment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
