The Town of Scarborough is seeking a part-time Deputy Town Clerk to support and assist the Town Clerk with the varied activities of the Clerk's office.

Responsibilities include issuance of licenses and permits, collecting fees, recording documents and vital statistics, assisting with voter registration and all elections, and preparing Town Council packets.


This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work effectively and independently with the public, Town officials and colleagues.

Requires the ability to prepare and maintain complete clerical records.

Ability to acquire thorough knowledge and understanding of the State Statutes relating to the duties and responsibilities of Town and City Clerks is also required.

Ability to familiarize and assimilate knowledge of the provisions of the Town Charter, ordinances and State regulations as they relate to the operation of the Clerk's office and Town.

High school graduate, post-secondary courses in accounting, business, and computer technology preferred. Prior experience in a municipal environment and Notary Public preferred.

In lieu of the above, any equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Town.

The Scarborough Town Hall is located at 259 U.S. Route 1, just south of the junction of Rt. 1 and Black Point Road/Gorham Road._
