    Support Staff - Position - Custodial - Custodian - 12 months Job Number Start Date Open Date 02/01/2023 Closing Date


    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Custodian is responsible for a variety of tasks including washing, mopping, scrubbing, dusting and sweeping.

    Maintains routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds for Atlanta Public Schools.

    This position reports to the assigned or designated supervisor.


    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Conducts routine building inspections daily and identifies areas requiring follow-upaction. Informs Maintenance Supervisor immediatelyPerforms clean-up tasks on surrounding grounds and structuresCleans, shampoos, and/or disinfects carpets, in additon to restrooms in accordance with established proceduresOpens and secures building; sets security alarmReceive and store school custodial suppliesDusts and polishes furniture, window ledges, and all horizontal surfacesAssist in setting up facilities for special eventsMove materials, equipment, and furniture as necessaryEnsures floors are cleaned, mopped, stripped, and waxed as necessaryMaintains equipment to ensure proper working condition, cleanliness and stores equipmentCollects, cleans, and empties trash cans when necessaryStock restrooms with paper and soap and changes light bulbs and ceiling tilesWashes windows on lower levels and on doors, both inside and outsideOperate autoscrubbers, buffers, and vacuums and help keep equipment in working conditionAssist site manager or operations manager in the performance of basic building maintenance

    Requirements Education:
    H.S.

    Diploma or GED preferred Work Experience: 0-1 year of work experience Certification/ Licenses: N/A
