Job Summary:


Under the general direction of the Division Director of the Alternative Delivery and Major Projects Division (ADMP), this position serves as a Project Manager, managing all aspects of analysis, and preparation of construction plans, estimates, specifications, engineering studies and reports for major projects, including the procurement and administration of alternative delivery methods which may include Design Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), P3, integrated design build, or standard design bid build projects.

This position represents the Department with providing expertise and assistance to all appropriate technical areas, interacting with federal, local governments, state agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Manages the oversight/approvals for employee personnel actions and consultant invoicing, and technical/administrative reports and correspondence. This position oversees and directs the work of general engineering consultants assigned to the projects. Produces cost effective projects that meet design intent and stakeholder needs.

Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages direction/administration duties of the Alternative Delivery and Major Projects in a highly complex highway construction program throughout the State of Arizona. Manages program priorities, monitors, reports progress of projects, development process related to scope, schedule, budget, and project procurement. Provides leadership in the resolution of project issues including escalations to management when needed. Provides leadership to staff on projects
  • Leads and directs activities in the procurement processes of projects, design over site, project budget and prepares reports for highly complex projects and corridor studies. Provides supervision constructability reviews during development while communicates policies, procedures, guidelines, changes
  • Champions partnerships and represents the department at meetings with Federal, State, County, Locals Governments, Contractors, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Councils of Governments, Stakeholders, and the general public on behalf of the agency
  • Manages department and consultant staff to ensure a welldeveloped team to balance workload. Aligns the project development process and practices to eliminate redundancies and conflict areas and improves product delivery. Determines training needs and provides training opportunities for staff

Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.

This position requires Registered Professional Engineer Licenses for the State of Arizona or proof for reciprocity in the State of Arizona, at time of appointment.
