- Positions patients using stabilizing equipment to optimize exposure for surgical procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Provides visualization of the surgical site using suitable methods, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
- Utilizes proper techniques for achieving temporary and permanent hemostasis.
- Assists in body plane closure, applying wound dressings, and securing drainage systems.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

- Surgical Tech
- Surgical Assistant Certified
- High School diploma or GED. Completion of Surgical Technologist program.
- Certification as one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) by ABSA. State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Current certification in BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer required before start date.
