    The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is seeking a director for its highly regarded Hope and Cope Psychosocial and Education Program.

    This program provides psychosocial supports and services from diagnosis onwards for all children with cancer and blood disorders seen within the Division.

    The Director will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the Program, as well as its academic and clinical components.

    In addition to monitoring current services and activities, the Director will work collaboratively with the multiple interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based psychosocial supports, with a particular emphasis on bereavement follow-up.

    The Director will also be responsible for fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for all members of the Program.

    The Director will also have the opportunity to provide direct evidence-based clinical care; supervise therapy practicums for graduate psychology and counseling students, interns, and fellows; and engage in quality improvement projects and clinical research.


    The Hope and Cope Psychosocial and Education Program consists of a dedicated 12-member multi-disciplinary team including social workers, resource specialists, child life specialists, hospital teachers, chaplains, art and music therapists as well as expressive artists.

    The goal of the Program is to help families maximize their strengths at all stages of their child's treatment journey.

    The team members are passionate about providing evidence-based comprehensive services to patients and their families throughout the course of their treatment journey.

    As the leader of this team the Director will lead psychosocial rounds, oversee systematic screening and activities providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.

    Qualifications


    • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program
    • At least 4 years of experience in an academic or clinical setting with specialty training in pediatric
    • A record of scholarly achievement and expertise in clinical psychology
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • A commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
    • License eligible in Alabama
    Positions offer competitive salaries along with a comprehensive benefits package.

    Rank, salary and Tenure will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate and will consist of a guaranteed salary.
