Description

The Director of Educational Technology provides leadership in the supervision, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of technology programs of the Dover, Sherborn, and Dover-Sherborn Regional School Districts.

The start date for this position is July 1, 2024, or earlier if possible.


RESPONSIBILITIES Include:

Vision:
Responsible for developing and implementing a five-year district technology plan in alignment with research-based trends and the districts strategic plan

2 Organization of Program:
Responsible for communicating and working with the administration, coordinators, technology facilitators, and teaching staff relative to the appropriate use of system-wide hardware, software, peripherals, and networks

3 Administration:

Responsible for overseeing the implementation of technology in the administrative functions of the school system including: student information system (Aspen), information data systems and website operations; responsible for compliance with all DESE reporting requirements.4.


Education:
Responsible for partnering with directors, instructional leaders and educators on the development and implementation of the MA Digital Literacy and Computer Science Curriculum Standards (DLCS) as well as for supporting and assessing students development of 21st Century Technology Skills

5 Staff Supervision:
Responsible for participating in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of all technology support staff assigned to the technology program

6 Communication:

Responsible for making staff aware of important concepts including Internet safety procedures outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy, copyright, and other topics related to effective and legal use of technology.

Responsible for regular communication with Central Administration and other administration as needed.

Responsible for overseeing the districts website, social media, and communications systems, policies and procedures

7 Cybersafety & Security:

Responsible for developing and implementing plans that address data privacy, confidentiality, and security practices relative to computer systems and networks and ensuring compliance with federal privacy requirements.

Technology Hardware & Network Operations:

Responsible for recommending and implementing all voice/video and data components, to include servers, switches, wireless access points, distance learning equipment, desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads,, printers and other connectivity devices.9.


Professional Development:
Responsible for assisting curriculum coordinators in arranging and scheduling appropriate staff development including pre-service, summer workshops, and in-service training programs in technology and evaluating their effectiveness in encouraging effective practices

10 Inventory:

Responsible for the evaluation, selection, and utilization of instructional and administrative technology (including apps), networking infrastructure, security systems, and communications systems.

Responsible for maintaining up-to-date and accurate hardware and software inventories and archive libraries.11.


Budget:

Responsible for effective budget management including overseeing and standardizing the purchase of hardware, software and site licensing, and technology-related supplies to maximize efficiencies of budget and related management of the technology planning effort.12.
