Metal Finisher / Grinder / Buffer that can help us excel in quality, productivity and value.

The employee must be able to be self-sufficient reading data (and/or prints) and producing parts to data. This position requires working for various industries such as tool and die, heavy equipment, oil, defense work, etc.

POSITION PURPOSE


Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further painting using hand tools and power tools.


RESPONSIBLITIES AND RESULTS

Job Duties

  • Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further painting, or finished product using hand tools and power tools.
  • Clean work pieces or finished products.
  • Polish materials, work pieces, or finished products.
  • Smooth metal surfaces or edges.
  • Evaluate class A sheet metal for various defects using inspection lights and scuffing techniques.
  • Mark defects such cracks and splits for repair for welding dept.
  • Skilled at all types of sheet metal repair and finishing techniques to remove dents, creases, updings, etc. using appropriate tools.
  • Has knowledge and can show proficiency of hand tools including tape measures, files, grinders, and can distinguish sanding grits by number and surface textures.
  • Mark products, work pieces or equipment with identifying information.
  • Operate grinding equipment.
  • Select abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
  • Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, and measuring their dimensions.
  • Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Remove completed work pieces from equipment or worktables and place work pieces in containers or skids.
  • Move products, materials, or equipment between work areas using hand jack.
  • Clean materials to prepare them for production.
  • Clean production equipment after use daily and clean floor daily.

Qualifications

  • Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to communicate with coworkers.
  • Work overtime when approved and scheduled by your manager.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Experience

  • 1 year metal finishing experience.
  • 13 Years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Pay:
$ $20.00 per hour

Education:


  • High school or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

Metal Finishing: 1 year (preferred)

  • Manufacturing: 3 years (preferred)
