This position is eligible for remote work from anywhere in the US. The United
States Geological Survey (
USGS) Experienced Services Program (ESP) was
established to create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues
facing government agencies. The
USGS ESP connects experienced workers (age 55+)
to provide scientific, technical, and administrative services in support of the
USGS mission. The experienced workers participating in the ESP are referred to
as Enrollees and are not employees of
USGS or National Experienced Workforce
Solutions (NEW Solutions). NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental
organization responsible for administrative aspects of the ESP, and the
enrollees work under
USGS direction based on the functions in this job
description.
USGS ESP enrollees benefit from the opportunity to mentor and to
engage in gainful project-based work, and to undertake meaningful tasks using
their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national
economy and their own financial security. A background security investigation
may be required prior to start date. Location, hours and hourly pay are noted in
this position description.
USGS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary
support with this position being funded for approximately 416 hours at 8 hours
per week. (this is subject to change based on budget and other factors).
Qualifications:
Minimum of 25 year(s) of experience in hydrogeology of Guam and work in the
public sector OR PhD Degree
Intimate knowledge of the One-Guam Water Resources Information Program, its
stakeholders, the respective roles of each stakeholder, and how the stakeholders
interact.
Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams
Duties:
Provides advice, mentorship, and consultation related to the hydrogeologic
setting of Guam in support of the One-Guam Water Resources Information Program
(OGRIP) as well as professional and technical support related to workshops,
public outreach and on topics of interest related to OGRIP. Duties also include
fostering interagency teamwork with federal and local agencies involved with
OGRIP (Department of Defense, Government of Guam,
USGS and University of Guam)
and ensuring collaborative work between
USGS and University of Guam is
optimized. Duties require an intimate knowledge of the One-Guam Water Resources
Information Program, its stakeholders, the respective roles of each stakeholder,
and how the stakeholders interact.
Provide advice, mentorship, and consultation related to the hydrogeologic
setting of Guam in support of the One-Guam Water Resources Information Program
(OGRIP) 30%
Provide professional and technical support related to workshops, public
outreach and on topics of interest related to the OGRIP 30%
Foster interagency teamwork with federal and local agencies involved with
the OGRIP (Department of Defense, Government of Guam and University of
Guam) 30%
Review work scopes, proposals, and draft manuscripts related to the
OGRIP 10%
Other:
Travel Requirements:
A trip to Guam to meet with stakeholders is possible,
although yet to be confirmed. The need for this travel will be determined as the
project progresses.
Overnight travel:
There may be a trip to Guam as described above.
Air travel anticipated:
It is anticipate that one trip to Guam could be
needed, although the need for this trip is yet to be determined.
Rental cars:
If travel is required, travel will be accompanied by
USGS
personnel.
Physical requirements:
This position is done predominantly in an office
setting and requires computer with MS Office software and Teams Meeting
capability.
Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
