- Ensure proper handling of pharmacy banking, including timely deposits and bank account reconciliation.
- Manage activities of Accounts Payable department.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure proper payment and posting of payroll.
- Ensure proper payment of all taxes owed by the pharmacy.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and prepare adjusting entries.
- Develop budget plan for each fiscal year in coordination with President; monitor operational expenses for compliance with the Company expense budget.
- Contribute to a positive work climate and overall team effort within the pharmacy.
- Prepare financial audits as requested by president.
- Work with outside accounting to ensure GAAP compliance.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the department meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement "best practices" in all departmental activities.
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the pharmacy's Performance Improvement program as requested by the Human Resources department.
- Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
- Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President.
- Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately.
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management or 10 years of direct accounting experience with escalating responsibility.
- Knowledge of the specialized functions of accounting and financial management.
- Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
- Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing, as well as efficient use of the internet and email.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit as well as talk and hear
- The employee is required to use hands to operate office equipment and vehicles
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
