Shop Foreman / Steel Fabricator to join our team.

The
Shop Foreman / Steel Fabricator can expect to perform the following functions:
A
Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the operations and activities within a steel fabrication shop


Their responsibilities include:

  • Supervising Workers: The supervisor is responsible for managing and directing the work of employees, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring that work is completed efficiently and according to quality standards.
  • Fabrication Oversight: Supervising the fabrication process from start to finish, including layout, cutting, forming, and assembly of steel components. This involves ensuring that fabrication tasks are carried out according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Welding Supervision: Overseeing welding operations, including selecting appropriate welding techniques, monitoring weld quality, and ensuring compliance with welding procedures and codes.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all workers adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. This may involve conducting safety training sessions, performing safety inspections, and addressing any safety concerns or issues that arise.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring the quality of fabricated steel products to ensure they meet industry standards and customer specifications. This includes inspecting finished products, implementing quality control measures, and addressing any defects or discrepancies.
  • Production Scheduling: Planning and scheduling production activities to meet customer deadlines and production targets. This involves coordinating with other departments, such as procurement and shipping, to ensure materials are available and products are delivered on time.
  • Equipment Selection and Maintenance: Selecting appropriate fabrication and welding equipment/tools based on project requirements and ensuring they are properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance. This includes regular inspection, maintenance, and repair of welding machines, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools.
  • Inventory Management: Managing inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste. This includes tracking inventory levels, submitting material orders, and implementing inventory control measures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements in fabrication and welding techniques to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This may involve implementing new technologies, training programs, or procedural changes to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Training and Development: Providing training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in steel fabrication techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Communication: Serving as a liaison between management, employees, and other departments to communicate production goals, progress, and any issues or concerns that arise.

Steel Fabricator is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components according to specifications, ensuring high-quality workmanship


Their responsibilities include:

  • Fabrication and Welding: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements. Perform layout and measurement tasks to accurately cut, shape, and fabricate metal components. Operate fabrication machinery, such as shears, saws, and presses, to prepare materials for welding. Utilize various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick) to join and weld metal parts with precision. Ensure the structural integrity and quality of welds meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and beveling to facilitate welding processes. Select and utilize appropriate tools and equipment for cutting, shaping, and preparing materials.
  • Quality Control and Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and fabricated structures to detect flaws or defects. Address any imperfections by grinding or repairing welds to meet quality standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures while working with welding equipment and in the fabrication environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with team members, such as cut shop, fabricators, and project managers, to ensure seamless workflow and project completion. Communicate effectively regarding project progress, challenges, and potential issues to supervisors.

Steel Fabricator Requirements:


  • Previous work experience as a metal fabricator
  • Advanced welding experience mig, stick, tig
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate lar
