  • Supports the efforts of technicians and support contractors in the daily operations and sustainment of network configuration management.
  • Conducts support activities within the operational network, which include the full spectrum of installation, configuration, and integration of hardware and software from a project or organization to the base area network gateway.
  • Provides technical support for existing infrastructure supporting the AFTC enterprise. Identifies new customer requirements in an assigned area and conducts analysis of related systems to determine the nature of requirements

  • Telework may be authorized. Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework
  • Security clearance requirements are based upon actual position being filled.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. Per DoD M, incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment
  • This position includes IA work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Promotion potential may be authorized depending upon position being filled.
  • 2 years proven experience as network technician or relevant position desired.
  • 2 years' experience in Air Force COMSEC fundamentals and processes desired

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled
Education or the requirements specified in the section titled
Experience.

  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Applicant must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband, NH-01, or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or higher.

Specialized experience is described as:

includes Information Technology (IT) experience that includes being responsible for organizational level administration, operation and maintenance of the organization's computer network and for providing technical assistance and support to management and customers.

Additionally, I have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four following competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

EDUCATION:
Ph.
D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.
D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions-
ORKnowledge, Skills and Abilities**•Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining mission critical voice, data, and video services that support functional requirements.
