Duties:


  • Organizes, conducts studies, and provides technical engineering support for assigned programs involving the development of new C5ISR systems, systems architectures.
  • Coordinates and monitors external programs aimed at the development of computerbased tactical systems, subsystems, components, and related software products.
  • Designs and executes soldier touch points and experiments for proof of concept and prototype systems in support of concept refinement and requirements development for next generation command post systems.
  • Prepares technical specifications and statements of work, evaluates bid for proposals, provides technical guidance to contractors, and resolves problem areas and proposed new approaches.
  • Prepares reports and contributes as an author or coauthor on publications setting forth results or assigned program.
  • Leads System IPTs and attends meetings to coordinate integrated systems development, disseminate and discuss findings, provide advice, resolve mutual problems, exchange information concerning controversial, and coordinates integrated efforts.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • The duties of this position require occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Program Management Certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.

Educational Requirements:


Educational Requirement for 0800 Series:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering.

To be acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics

Educational Requirement for 1550 Series:Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions

Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing the assessment and reporting of test results to provide test integration and evaluation support for software-intensive systems; 2) Implementing system engineering and testing processes during all product life cycle phases for developmental and procured systems; and, 3) Developing, and interpreting policies, directives and/or regulations pertaining to assigned programs to ensure comprehensive, integrated capabilities throughout the command.

  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH02 or GS11 equivalent.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • This is a pay banded position. The NH03 encompasses grades 12 and 13 on the General Schedule.
