    POSITION SUMMARY


    As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist at our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with substance use disorders on their journey to recovery. Working under the guidance of our Senior Director of Behavioral Health, Clinical Supervisor of Behavioral Health, and Lead Behavioral Health Counselor for Substance Use, you will utilize your personal recovery experience to inspire hope and provide valuable support to our patients.

    In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients and our integrated care team to enhance the patient experience and strengthen connections to our MAT program.

    Additionally, you will engage in targeted outreach in the Trenton area to connect with existing patients and expand our reach in the community.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Deliver exceptional service and care to patients, customers, and team members.
    • Engage with clients through individual and group meetings, offering non-clinical activities that educate and support their recovery.
    • Facilitate tailored recovery groups and model effective coping strategies.
    • Advocate for recovery-based services and assist clients in community integration.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
    • Collaborate with program personnel and clinical staff to track and report program progress.
    • Support staff development through active participation in meetings and training sessions.
    • Stay informed about substance use developments and contribute updates to colleagues.
    • Assist in training new staff and supervising interns as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma with knowledge of addictions and recovery processes required.
    • Minimum of two years in personal substance use recovery.
    • Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist and by the NJ Addictions Professional Board.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with clients and colleagues.
    • Proficiency in computer usage and common software packages.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


    This position involves operating office equipment, light lifting, and clear communication. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for individuals with disabilities.

    The ability to speak, write, and hear in English is essential, with specific vision requirements for close vision and depth perception.

    The work environment is generally low-risk with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
