DESCRIPTION:
A postdoc/staff position to enhance professional development of the scientist; help conduct research within the area of active research of Senior or Staff Scientists; provide new research expertise to research program and provide scientific experience within field of expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct active lab research on a semiindependent or independent basis in conjunction with Senior or Staff scientists. Conduct experiments; develop new ideas that promote current research; prepare and publish scientific manuscripts; bring new expertise to the research program.
- Directly train, mentor, and supervise Technicians and Interns.
- Institute Functions: Help further the goals of the Institute; serve on committees; attend research meetings.
- Conduct other duties as assigned by the Institute.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.
D., M.D.
or equivalent in related field from an accredited institution; completion of professional pre-doctoral training with a minimum of relevant research experience.
Have the ability to undertake independent research where little or no supervision is required.Research experience in cancer cell biology, molecular biology, protein purification and enzymatic/receptor kinetic studies required.
Stem cell biology, hybridoma and analytical work with antibodies, ELISAs, animal work xenograft experience, expression library construction and functional screening experience are a plus.
Additional requirements as specified by the Senior or Staff Scientists.Terms of Employment
Full time position. Six months observation period. Evaluation at six months, and annually at anniversary date. A Postdoc/staff Scientist is typically an exempt employee, hired with full benefits.
