Duties:


  • Plans and conducts, as project lead or member of a study team, specific data engineering, modeling, and analysis activities within SSA. Formulates sound approaches to solve operational data problems.
  • Utilizes data from various sources and information systems to provide advice and support on issues related to the OAI mission. Prepares and presents briefings regarding the progress and/or results of projects/studies.
  • Provides management with expert technical guidance and recommendations for achieving the agency's objectives.
  • Conducts statistical analyses and develops predictive models using statistical techniques, machine learning, and AI, using tools such as R, Python or SAS, to support SSA operational processes and to optimize planning and resource allocation.

  • Leverages data tools, programming skills, data visualization, communication, and advanced analytic techniques to support the OAI mission.
  • Develops, integrates, and maintains data and extract transform and load (ETL) procedures to ensure the integrity and efficiency of data interchanges.
  • Develops forensically sound, auditable, flexible, repeatable, and scalable ETL capabilities through data engineering best practices on a variety of structure, unstructured, and metadata.
  • Performs testing as necessary for workflows for routing and data transformation.

  • Translates the results of analysis into clear, actionable communications that equip SSA decision makers to make informed, datadriven decisions about digital product development and scientific strategy.
  • Research and designs presentations and interpretations of analytical outputs tailored to specific audiences, including the use of interactivity and narrative storytelling where appropriate.
  • Collaborates with teammates, customers, and stakeholders in a reproducible and organized manner.

  • To qualify for this GS13 position, the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at, or equivalent to the Federal
    GS12 level (or above), which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
    Such experience should include utilizing advanced data science techniques including data extraction transformation cleaning modeling machine learning and artificial intelligence. Processing data and extracting insights from structured and unstructured data to provide solutions to complex challenges. Developing artificial intelligence services in risk assessment targeting and chatbot development for auditing. Using advanced quantitative computer science and statistical skills to interpret data for target forecasting and augmenting datadriven audit decisions.
