Description
Under general direction keeps an assigned building area clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly; secures rooms and

buildings; and performs special cleaning and building maintenance periodically.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs heavy manual labor such as sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and stripping and waxing floors.
  • Cleans, vacuums, and shampoos rugs and carpets, including deep cleaning and repairs.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, blinds, countertops, and bookcases.
  • Empties and cleans waste receptacles, trash cans, and recycling bins.
  • Cleans restrooms, bathroom fixtures, water fountains, and kitchen areas.
  • Washes windows, walls, tables and benches.
  • Polishes metal work.
  • Maintains equipment and materials in clean condition.
  • Moves, arranges, and sets up furniture and equipment for special and sporting events.
  • Makes minor maintenance repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing pencil sharpeners, replacing
parts and athletic equipment, repairing lockers, and touch-up painting.


  • Maintains basic records, such as checking inventories and preparing work orders.
  • Picks up paper and other debris on grounds and walks and disposes of such.
  • Unlocks and locks doors to buildings; checks for vandalism and theft; sets alarms.
  • Assists in the thorough cleaning and restoration of one or more school plants during vacation periods.
  • May assemble furniture.
  • May line athletic fields for play and collect, store, and monitor use of athletic equipment.
  • May raise or lower flags.
  • May perform routine groundskeeping duties such as minor weeding, trimming bushes, and watering of
grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience


The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; previous experience in cleaning and operating similar equipment is highly desirable, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.


Pay:
$3, $4,119.92 per month
