Essential Job Functions:
Mentees:
- Recruits faculty for participation in early
- Conducts program orientations for all new faculty mentees and establishes and facilitates mentorship platforms for each mentee.
- Tracks all faculty mentee and mentor resource utilization, project progress, and outcomes.
- Meets monthly with assigned lead faculty mentees.
- Collects and maintains faculty mentee outcome data and program participation records.
Programs:
- Works closely with Executive Vice Provost in administering programs.
- Supervises activities of project assistant and program resource staff: statistician, data analyst/programmers, database managers, science writer/editor, grant writing consultant, and graphics consultant.
- Organizes and attends all regular translational research track meetings and organizes biweekly speakers for seminars, workshops, and panel presentations for all programs.
- Organizes and coordinates annual retreat and/or research symposium. Develops, conducts, and analyzes data from semiannual and annual mentee and mentor surveys, writes an annual report, creates a brochure, and quaternary newsletter for all programs.
- Produces and writes reports for donors as requested.
- Chairs Advisory Board Meetings and Steering Committee Meetings. Oversees program databases and website maintenance.
- Attends annual AAMC Group on Faculty Affairs conferences, the National Postdoctoral Association Annual meeting, and other relevant training.
Budget:
- Maintains and monitors UTMB's Mentoring Program budgets, distribution schedule, benefactor support, mentee travel awards, the UTMB fellowship awards, the annual retreat and symposium, and payments/honoraria for guest speakers.
University Service:
- Participates in faculty development initiatives (University Strategic Plan, School specific programs, and Faculty Affairs).
- Presents at the annual UTMB New Faculty Orientation presentation.
- Organizes annual (competitive) Mentee Panel Presentation (and travel awards) at the annual Mentoring Programs symposium.
- Serves on various school and university committees.
Scholarship:
- Conducts research and/or has a history of extramurallyfunded research/scholarship.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have a collaborative work style and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate a capacity for outstanding academic leadership and a dedication to young investigators and educational scholars required.
- Must possess the skills to communicate effectively with diverse staff and faculty members and work crossfunctionally across numerous departments, and with leaders from across the university.
- Resultoriented academic scholar and leader with a history of success.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in Biomedical Science/ related field or Master/PhD degree in higher education from an accredited school is required.
- Ten or more years of higher education experience required.
- Experience in research/scholarship, education, grantwriting, and faculty and career development/academic administration.
- Experience with program evaluation and using data to drive process and outcomes assessment required.
- Experience in academic budget management required.
- A track record of scholarly work evidenced by publications in peerreviewed journals, presentations required.
- Prior NIH/extramural grantwriting and/or funding experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
