Night Custodian


Schedule:
M/W/F evenings after 6pm (some flexible scheduling available)

Hours:
Approximately 15 hours a week, year round, starts July 2024


Summary:

The Night Custodian is the primary cleaner of the facilities, ensuring that all inside areas of the campus buildings are clean and stocked.

While this role mainly focuses on daily, weekly, and monthly repetitive cleaning tasks, it will occasionally include annual maintenance tasks and special event preparation.

The responsibilities of this role require light lifting, standing and walking for up to 5 hours at a time, bending to clean, and other light physical labor.

The night custodian reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and understands that every role at APL is integral to our mission to serve students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Professional:_
• Abide by all school policies and procedures
• Ensure a positive and constructive relationship with administration and teachers
• Communicate with colleagues, students and parents in an effective manner
• Provide role model behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible
• Partake in professional development to enhance skills related to job assignment
• Monitor supply levels and report when reorders are needed

• Cleaning Tasks:_
• Sweeping
• Mopping
• Dusting
• Disinfecting
• Wiping down doors, walls, and counters
• Removing trash
• Restocking supplies
• Inside windows
• Special Projects:_
• Preparation, set up, and break down for events, including tables, chairs, stage, etc.
• Annual deep cleaning of flooring
• Annual apartment deep cleaning
• Other needed deep cleaning as it arises

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma preferred
• Prior cleaning experience preferred
• Fluency in English (including speaking, reading, and writing) required
• Ability to meet deadlines and selfmanage time effectively
• Comfortable working without the presence of a supervisor
• Able to maintain confidentiality and security
• Able to meet background check requirements set by the State of Florida for private school employees
