    Village Community School opened its doors to students in September 1970. To this day, VCS continues to be the leader in K-8 education. Exciting epiphanies happen every day at VCS. Our integrated social studies-based curriculum prepares students for a complex, interconnected world. The K-8 years are critically important to a child's academic and social development. Our K-8 structure also provides many opportunities for students to be leaders.     VCS seeks to hire a Part-Time Mandarin teacher for 6 th - 8 th grade for the academic year. The position is expected to begin August 26, 2024. Salary range is $45,900-$82,605 based on experience.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Create and maintain an inclusive learning environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Affirm the identities of all members of our community.

    Actively teach engaging and motivating Mandarin lessons to students from all abilities.

    Work collaboratively with the Upper School Director, World Language Department Chair, and grade/subject level teachers to design, implement, and evaluate curriculum.

    Design and document curriculum using principles of backwards design and project-based learning.

    Meet regularly with members of the Educational Leadership Team to receive feedback and mentorship.

    Collaborate with teachers and student support teams to monitor, assess, and document students' academic and social-emotional progress.

    Communicate standards, achievements, and areas of concern to students and parents.

    Meet and communicate with parents both formally and informally (email, phone calls, conferences, and written Mid and End-of-Year Reports).

    Transition students to and from classes. Monitor students during additional part-time duties such as snack, lunch, or recess.

    Attend grade level, World Language Department, staff, and professional development meetings.

    Report directly to the Upper School Director.
