    Description
    General Scope of Responsibility: Manages the engineering planning & preparation activities needed to launch new jobs and engineering changes with 100% quality. Also, holds engineering responsibility for addressing process issues and enhancing plant safety, quality, and productivity on assigned programs/processes.
    • DUTIES & ELEMENTS:
    • Carries out the RVP process engineering activities
    • Develops, optimizes, documents, and updates process work instructions and set-up procedures as necessary
    • Creates and updates tooling specifications and best practices for plant processes
    • Reviews new and existing product design to ensure optimal manufacturability, adherence to tolerance guidelines, functionality, tool design, machine design, cell layout, and safety
    • Leads the process development effort through cross-functional teams to develop optimal cell layout and process flow layout
    • Develops, documents, and utilizes process troubleshooting guidelines
    • Demonstrates compliance to department procedures
    • Participates in the TFC process to determine optimum processes, tooling, and material requirements for customer quotes
    • Applies Lean manufacturing principles to enhance assigned processes
    • Leads RVP Engineering efforts to resolve/improve process opportunities:
    • Identifies and resolves process improvements for better cycle times, reduced spoilage, improved process capability, and increased throughput
    • Evaluates and takes actions to meet or exceed plant targets for spoilage, cycle time, and quality
    • Assists production staff as a process expert by utilizing troubleshooting and technical skills
    • Performs cause analysis and corrective action implementation on assigned complaints or internal failures
    • Performs safety analysis and implementation as required
    • Plant Launches/APQP activities
    • Ensures compliance and completes assigned APQP activities
    • Evaluates effectiveness of proposed processes
    • Initiates activities to secure and install new equipment or processes
    • Leads cross-functional teams to develop PFMEA's and mistake/error proofing
    • Leads and assists with tooling design and development
    • Reviews product design regarding materials, quality, function, and manufacturability
    • Prototypes and oversees production runs
    • Trains operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel
    • Ensures products meet quoted requirements
    • Coordinates PPAP, PSA's, Run at Rates runs

      QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Work Experience, etc.):
      • Minimum:
      • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial)
      • Experience or training using computer software applications
      • Demonstrated achievements requiring problem-solving and creative abilities
      • Desired:
      • Five or more years relevant work experience in manufacturing
      • Experience interpreting or using CAD/CAM drawings
      • A working knowledge of plant processes
      • The ability to perform Failure Model and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE's)
      • A thorough knowledge of automotive policies and procedures
      • A demonstrated ability to plan and organize
      • Intermediate knowledge of Fanuc Robots
        • Physical requirements:
      • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders or stairs on manufacturing equipment
      • Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds
      • Must be able to walk through the manufacturing plant and stand for long periods
      • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks
        • HUMAN RELATIONS:
        Process Engineers work closely with various departments and personnel and must maintain positive relationships. They interact with all levels of the organization and must blend the needs and goals of these levels to achieve organizational objectives. Process Engineers must remain objective and make recommendations based on facts.
