    The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for

    general accounting functions, providing financial analyses, and being primary liaison between Savannah accounting team and the Houston supply team.

    This role will be initially focused on our largest company which is in the fuel distribution industry (Colonial Oil Industries, Inc.) that has revenues in excess of $5 billion.

    Job Duties

    Under the direction of the Colonial Oil Controller, the Accounting Analyst is responsible for tasks relating to general accounting functions and risk analysis.

    This position is responsible for a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and analysis tasks associated with Colonial Group's accounting and risk processes.


    Key duties will include:


    Analyze financial and risk transactions and accounts to determine accuracy and completeness of entries, including NYMEX accounting entries and sign off on monthly PNL analysis.

    Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
    Analyze and report cargo costing.
    Research and respond to accounting inquiries from various personnel and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.

    Develop an in-depth working knowledge of all operational and accounting computer software/equipment systems that impact the accounting and financial reporting processes.

    Ensure that all deadlines are met in accordance with department closing dates.

    Create journal entries including but not limited to, recording revenues, expenses, inventory, and other miscellaneous transactions of certain company subsidiaries.

    Communicate with credit team on cash disbursement estimates for pipeline and cargos.
    Back-up for accounts receivable and accounts payable processing.
    Prepare various monthly account reconciliations which may include inventory, receivables, payables, accrued expenses, and other accounts. This responsibility includes any daily or weekly processes that lead to the overall reconciliation of the monthly activity.
    Other special projects, reports, tasks, and financial assessments as assigned by the Colonial Oil Controller or Senior Management.
    Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    7-10 years of accounting experience
    5-7 years of risk analysis experience
    Crude and Refined Products, terminal operations and/or wholesale/distribution industry experience preferred.
    ETRM experience required, Allegro (Horizon) experience a plus
    Advanced Excel skills (including, but not limited to Pivot Tables and XLookup)
    Position requires significant interaction with cross-corporate departments and all levels of personnel within the company. Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability, and developed interpersonal skills are required. The ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment is necessary.

    Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and use of pivot tables) is required, and the candidate should be comfortable working with multiple PC software platforms and large automated accounting systems.

    The position will be located in the Houston office but will report directly to the Colonial Oil Controller located in the Savannah office.
