SUMMARY


To manage, organize and supervise the operations and staffing within the Building & Grounds Department including planning and scheduling of maintenance and required repairs for buildings and grounds; keeping buildings and equipment in good condition; establishing appropriate maintenance, security and custodial requirements.

Determine detailed specifications for all supplies, materials and equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Practices, procedures, and legal requirements related to the maintenance and upkeep of the districts building and grounds.
  • Planning, organization and direction of the custodial services, maintenance and HVAC activities within the District.
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, building codes and regulations.
  • Principles and practices of organization, administration and personnel management, including supervision and training.
  • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.

Abilities:

Ability to manage the maintenance and custodial departments with varied changing service demands. Exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and directing staff. Planning, organizing and directing others. Utilitze computer software programs and hardware pertinent to area. Work independently with little direction and as a team member. Assure compliance with safety practices and various codes and regulatory agency requirements. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


Education and Experience:


A Bachelor's degree in engineering or its equivalent from an accredited college or university preferred, or comparable knowledge and experience with five or more years' experience in plant engineering or as a Manager of Buildings and Grounds.
