Duties:

As a Contract Specialist, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Working cradle-to-grave contracting activities on small and large complex acquisitions. Experience with Information Technology acquisitions highly desirable.
  • Serving as a business adviser to a wide range of customers, advising Commission personnel of pertinent program and acquisition related policies and procedures required to successfully acquire best value total solutions for services, supplies and/or equipment needs.
  • Interpreting Federal Acquisition Regulations and policies ensuring contracts are in accordance with applicable and governing laws and regulations.

In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level.


Specialized experience is defined as
:
Experience performing multiple areas of contract transactions, such as: initiating, awarding, administration and closing of contracts. Experience with complex commercial procurements is preferred.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
