Teaching assignment:
six social studies classes with the primary assignment being Grade 8 Civics and Massachusetts Studies classesFacilitate the production and completion of the 8th grade civics project for all grade 8 students in your cohortDevelop and plan lessons and engage in professional collaboration and vertical alignment within the department and with other teachersProvide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Design learning activities that will relate topics in U.S. History to real life applications and modern contexts.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Evaluate each pupil's progress in content knowledge and 21st century skills.
Communicate with parents, caregivers and support staff to maximize the individual pupil's progress toward mastery.
Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
Participate in curriculum and other development programsParticipate in faculty meetings and parent conferences, 504, IEP and progress meetings Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the School Department and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
