- Repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects complex medical imaging equipment, instrumentation, and systems. Assign routine repairs, inspections, and installations to team members and observe their performance.
- Performs preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors.
- Reviews outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
- Supervises and instructs personnel in the safe use, application, testing, and preventive maintenance and repair of all types of imaging equipment technologies and systems.
- Recommends new equipment and testing procedures.
- Maintains accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and the deactivation of equipment.
- Maintains documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
- Assists with and evaluate third-party repairs.
- Provides leadership and managerial oversight to personnel as assigned.
- Provides in-service educational programs on use of equipment.
- Understands and complies with The Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Associates degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology from an accredited university, equivalent military training or equivalent work experience.
- 3 plus years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted). Preferred Education and Experience:
- 5 plus years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted). Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- OEM Imaging Device training and education with certificates. Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Certification as a Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) through the International Certification Commission or the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

Description: The Imaging Equipment Specialist provides expert-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, instrumentation and support systems used in healthcare delivery. Additionally the Specialist will execute professional-level inventory assessment/audits and preventive maintenance of medical imaging equipment providing remedial corrective maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on imaging equipment. All work is in accordance with Departmental and JPS Health Networkpolicies and procedures as well as The Joint Commission requirements.
