Important note:
Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions.
Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave).Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, and renewal of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide medical oversight of the EMS programs including EMT and MICT programs.
The Medical Director position is consistent with the role described by the Commission on Accreditation for Emergency Medical Services (CoAEMSP)Program.
Review and approve the educational content of the program curriculum for appropriateness, medical accuracy, and reflection of current evidence-informed prehospital or emergency care practice.
Review and approve the required minimum numbers of hours for each of the required patient contacts and procedures listed in the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Standards.
Review and approve the instruments and processes used to evaluate students in didactic, laboratory, clinical, and capstone field internships.Ensure the competence of each graduate in the program in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
Engages in cooperative involvement with the Program Director.
Ensure the effectiveness and quality of any Medical Director responsibilities delegated to another qualified physician.
Ensure educational interaction of physicians with students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Medical Degree (M.D.) Physician with emergency medical exp. as required by the National Standard Curriculum for course(s) to be taught. Licensed Physician
Desirable Qualifications:
Currently licensed and authorized to practice in Hawai'iKnowledge about EMS education including professional, legislative, and regulatory issuesAdequate training or experience in the delivery of hospital emergency care including proper care & transport, medical direction, and quality improvement in out-of-hospital careExperience with and current knowledge of emergency care of acutely ill and injured patientsAn active member of the local medical community & participate in professional activities related to out-of-hospital care
