Description

Pharmaceutical Technical Assistants (PTAs) in Washington Grove work under the supervision of a pharmacist to dispense medications, prepare ointments and other prescriptions, and test drugs and chemicals in the pharmacy laboratory for quality.

This job is characterized by personal interactions with customers, providing advice and health education to patients, and requires a strong knowledge base, a sense of responsibility, and a passion for working with people.

The 2.5-year training program consists of two years of theoretical and practical classroom instruction, followed by a six-month internship in a pharmacy.

With the increasing focus on health awareness in our society, the role of a PTA is becoming increasingly important.

The minimum requirement for this training program is a high school diploma, or alternatively, a completed two-year vocational training program after completing secondary school.

The curriculum includes the following areas of study: * Dispensing prescriptions * Providing advice and dispensing over-the-counter medications * Offering and providing services * Participating in business development and management * Quality control * Preparing medications

In addition to the professional training, students will also receive instruction in the following areas: * German/communication * English/communication

Upon completion of the program, graduates can work in a variety of settings, including: * Public and hospital pharmacies * Pharmaceutical and chemical companies * Pharmaceutical or cosmetic industries * Health insurance companies * Pharmaceutical representatives * Universities/PTA schools

The program begins annually in August.
