OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:


The Service Technician is responsible to provide excellent field support for starting up, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining Volcanic equipment and systems.

The service technician is also responsible for performing a USCG inspection on all Volcanic units and its related equipment on board a barge.

This position is also responsible to provide technical support and training to customers, service team members and Volcanic employees both on site and as well as at the factory.

The Service Technician is responsible to provide all support and services in a manner that is consistent with the company values and operating philosophy.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Service work
  • Perform technical service work in the field in a safe, efficient, capable manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations.


  • Training

  • Obtain the needed training and knowledge base to maintain the ability to conduct service field work on assigned equipment and controls.


  • Preparedness

  • Perform the necessary work to properly prepare for field jobs including review of previous service reports, site readiness, and USCG paperwork.


  • Documentation

  • Complete all required documentation and communication associated with the service work and continuous improve quality efforts.


  • Off Road

  • Efficiently perform value added functions when not traveling in the areas of manufacturing, technical phone support, quality and continuous improvements efforts.

Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience):


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completed all training as Service Technician Apprentice
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Willingness and commitment to travel minimum of 150 days per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bending/Stooping
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. Full motion of the body, lower extremities and back muscles.


  • Carrying

  • Extending hands and arms while carrying weight.


  • Climbing

  • Ascending ladders and other heights (boilers, etc.) by using one's hands and feet.


  • Confined Space

  • Work is required to work in close quarters and narrow passageways of Boilers and other conditions that count cause claustrophobia.


  • Heavy Work

  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Frequent standing and walking.


  • Kneeling

  • Bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees.


  • Lifting

  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects. Requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.


  • Pulling

  • Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  • Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
