Our
Swim Whisperers Adaptive Aquatics Training Program is the only Adaptive Aquatics Training program that uses a therapeutic approach to assess, identify, and overcome the roadblocks that are present in children with special needs while learning to swim.

When you get certified through the Swim Whisperers Adaptive Aquatics Training Program, you will have access to proven and time-tested course material, strategies and techniques that will help to transform your ability to teach individuals with special needs.

Experience teaching swimming is preferred but we are willing to train you in our Swim Whisperer Certification for special needs swimming.

This is a year-round position, and we are looking for longer-term employees. This is not a summer job.

Looking for shifts during:


  • Danvers, MA on Sunday (113pm)
  • Reading MA Sunday (93pm)
  • Newton, MA Fridays (1:306), Saturdays (104pm)

RESPONSIBILITIES _

Follows all safety procedures and employee policies:

  • Completes safety sweep at the beginning of each shift.
  • Aware of safety precautions and able to carry out emergency procedures.
  • Maintains a safe pool space and shows water safety awareness during sessions.
  • Knowledge of space management and correct body positioning to protect their physical body from any injuries.
  • Shows good attendance, consistently shows up to work on time and prepared for shift.
  • Good time management of schedule throughout the shift.
  • Checks out clients daily for therapy services rendered.
  • Productivity expected will be an average monthly capacity of 75%.
  • Follows cancelation policy, proactively accesses cancellation list and fills openings.
  • Writes and maintains student coverage notes.

Provides in water individualized swim instruction:

  • Provides 30, 45, or 60-minute private, semi-private or group swim lessons.
  • Independently completes intake calls.
  • Demonstrates the ability to translate knowledge of sensory system, starfish curriculum, Swim Whisperers roadblocks & areas of focus, equipment usage, water properties, emotional regulation, and safety into their sessions.
  • Shows good engagement and connection with swimmers.
  • Performs standardized swim assessment on first visit and document findings.
  • Performs swim lessons that are goal oriented and within the Swim Angelfish framework.
  • Identify and document swimmers' roadblocks and strategies used to overcome the underlying issue.
  • Caregiver relations: talks to parents/caregiver after each lesson.
  • Provide consultation services and collaboration with client's care team, caregivers to find the best way to overcome clients' challenges and to better understand how the client learns.
  • Ability to provide handling for a back float, front float, recovery, and safe assisted submersion techniques.
  • Able to keep precautions of swimmers and demonstrate safe handling skills.

Displays excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with management, co-workers, clients, and caregivers within 48 hours.
  • Assist in communication between parents and scheduling team with any permanent scheduling changes, including summer session.
  • Educate parents on services, swim lessons versus aquatic therapy, benefits and prices.
  • Flexible with changes in their schedule and offer to cover other shifts when needed.
  • Teamwork gets along with fellow employees and shows a cooperative spirit.
  • Assists with setup and cleanup of equipment at the beginning and end of shift.
  • Contributes to efficient pool and program operations.


  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks independently.
  • Participates in the creation of educational and social media content as needed.
Actively participates in ongoing training, certificates, and professional development:

  • Attends trainings such as in-services, in-water workshops, on-line training and meetings.
  • Discusses and problem solves difficult cases, pose questions and concerns with Pool Coordinator and coworkers.
