    Join Our Team: Research Associate I

    Are you ready for new challenges and opportunities? Join our team in Seattle to be a part of groundbreaking work in brain science at the Allen Institute.

    The mission of the Allen Institute is to unlock the complexities of bioscience and advance knowledge to improve human health. Our Brain Science team is at the forefront of accelerating the understanding of how the human brain works in both health and disease.

    We are looking for a Research Associate I to join our interdisciplinary team focused on spatial transcriptomics, where the goal is to produce high-quality in situ hybridization data to characterize cell types in the brain.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate fluorescence imaging microscopes
    • Handle mouse and human tissue
    • Perform multiple histological staining processes (Nissl, IHC, Biocytin, ISH)
    • Prepare and assemble custom slides and imaging chambers
    • Operate MERSCOPE, Xenium, and other imaging equipment
    • Compile, process, and analyze data
    • Evaluate and communicate research results
    • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and comply with regulatory requirements
    • Contribute to a scientific team environment
    • More duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field
    • Basic knowledge of neuroscience and cell biology
    • 0-2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting

    This is an onsite role where the primary work location is 615 Westlake Ave N. Occasional weekend hours may be required.

    Salary Range: $48,100 - $64,150 annualized salary based on education, experience, and skills relevant to the role.

    Benefits: Eligible employees and their families can enroll in medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, as well as the Allen Institute's 401k plan. Paid time off is also available.
