    Position Summary

    The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay endeavors to provide assistance, optimism, and recovery to individuals confronting significant life difficulties derived from various sources like **sexual assault or abuse**, domestic violence, financial obstacles, substance abuse, medical crises, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational issues. As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), your role is vital in responding to all designated calls in an efficient and effective manner, delivering top-notch patient care, and ensuring a safe environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Deliver exceptional customer service and patient care as the primary interaction point with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by safely transporting passengers with diverse needs in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide high-quality patient care following established protocols for various medical scenarios.
    • Aid and secure passengers as necessary, which may include wheelchair transfers.
    • Maintain radio contact with the Systems Status Controller and promptly respond to calls; adhere to planned routes and schedules.
    • Ensure operational excellence by meeting or surpassing key performance indicators such as completing each call within 60 minutes and achieving an average hospital turnaround time of 20 minutes or less.
    • Thoroughly document patient care, observations, and medical interventions in the electronic Patient Care Report (ePCR); include insurance details for billing purposes.
    • Exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude towards all parties; aim to build strong professional relationships within the EMS network.
    • Engage in mandatory initial and ongoing training to maintain current certifications and licenses; remain up-to-date with licensure, registration, and certifications.
    • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness of the ambulance and equipment.
    • Maintain a professional appearance following company policies and procedures at all times.
    • Adhere to all organizational policies, TransCare Standard Operating Procedures, and Medical and Protocol Manual.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Field Operations Supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Current Florida EMT certification required (considering candidates completing EMT school with certification application pending)
    • Valid Florida Class E driver's license with a good driving record
    • Current CPR Certification
    • Hillsborough County PTC license required upon employment
    • Completion of specific training and certifications within defined timelines

    Knowledge and Abilities

    • Understanding of relevant regulations and protocols
    • Proficiency in verbal and written communication
    • Ability to act effectively in emergencies, implement problem-solving strategies, and prioritize work effectively
    • Capacity to maintain strong working relationships and adhere to policies

    Physical Requirements

    Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 125 lbs., as well as perform various physical tasks.

    Working Conditions: Predominantly operates in a driving environment, occasionally facing hazardous conditions. Regular outdoor work.

    Travel: Primarily involves local travel during working hours.

    Hours: Full-time and part-time schedules involving 12-hour shifts, possibly including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Compensation: Initial pay rate of $18.00/hour, with potential for higher rates based on experience. Comprehensive benefits package offered.
