Summary:

As part of a collaborative team manages archival records and historic artifact collections. Conducts research and communicates findings in writing. Gives presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Works to process records into a digital asset management system. Reviews corporate records scheduled for disposition to determine their historic significance. Oversees digitization efforts. Performs project management, organizing and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment, often against critical deadlines. Conducts oral history interviews. Understands and communicates SRP's history and heritage. Works collaboratively with internal and external groups to effectively maintain SRP's historic collections.


What It Takes To Succeed:


  • Participates in the management and maintenance of corporate records including documents, photographs, film, digital media, maps, artifacts, ephemera, microfilm, and microfiche.
  • Processes records into archival collection utilizing digital asset management system.
  • Leads reviews of corporate records scheduled for destruction to determine their historical significance and makes recommendations for records retention or disposition.
  • Acquires material pertaining to the history of Salt River Project from internal and external sources in accordance with the department's collection policies.
  • Oversees and implements digitization projects.
  • Performs historical research required for litigation support, policy analysis, and decision making.
  • Analyzes material, provides facts and opinions, and reports findings in both oral and written formats.
  • Answers requests for historical and contemporary information posed by management and external entities.
  • Develops and delivers presentations to both internal and external groups.
  • Assists with developing programming and content for the SRP Heritage Center/Museum.
  • Conducts oral history interviews.
  • Participates in corporate committees and work teams as requested.

Addition Information:
This position may include some lifting and ladder climbing.


Education:


  • Completion of a Master's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment

Experience:


Entry Level:
Master's degree in History, Public History, Library Science, Archives, Museum Studies, or related field is preferred. No experience required.

Prefer graduate level courses or experience in Public History, Western History, or archival management. At least one year of experience in a corporate archive preferred.

  • At least 2 years of archives experience preferred.
  • Understanding of Arizona and Western History preferred.
  • Experience with digital asset management system preferred.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Interest in collections management and museum best practices preferred.

Hybrid Workplace


SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week.

Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
