Key responsibilities include general weather forecasting and analysis, power load forecasting, and renewables forecasting.

Responsibilities:

Shortterm weather forecasting and monitoring of key weather elements (temperatures, precipitation, wind speeds, cloud cover/solar) that may impact power loads and generation.
Generate daily communications on short and medium range weather forecasts.
Mediumterm forecasting of key weather elements that may impact market prices.
Shortterm power load forecasting at the ISO level for different regions across the US, including California, Texas, the Midwest and Northeast.
Subseasonal and seasonal forecasting and analysis.

Position requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
03 years of forecasting experience
13 years of forecasting experience preferred
Ability to clearly communicate critical weather information and risks in a timely manner
Strong deterministic forecasting skills; not afraid to make a judgement call during a high impact weather event
Ability to work under pressure during critical weather periods
Ability to communicate (verbal and written) to all levels of internal and external groups
Ability to work independently and as a team member, set priorities, respond to changing demands from various sources
Ability to field and complete wide ranging adhoc analysis and questions from all areas of the company
Effectively communicate weather information in a concise manner to traders and management
Maintain relationships with external vendors
Knowledge of power load forecasting is a plus
Knowledge of python, php, and other programming languages is a plus
