Job Overview:


Responsible for collecting, accounting for and returning all guest and team member laundry and dry cleaning according to established hotel standards.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Responds to all guest requests for laundry and drycleaning services by retrieving the items to be cleaned from guest rooms.
  • Inventories the contents of the laundry/dry cleaning bag and compares it to the enclosed laundry slip. Resolves any discrepancies.
  • Notifies the housekeeping manager on duty of any clothing damages or missing items.
  • Prepares laundry/dry cleaning and the requisite paperwork for delivery to the outside service company.
  • Receives freshly laundered/dry cleaned items upon return to the hotel.
  • Inventories and sorts all returned items and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Returns all freshly laundered/dry cleaned item to the guest room.
  • Handles guest requests for pressing clothing according to established standards.
  • Oversees team member uniform program.
  • Inventories team member uniforms before leaving the building and upon their return to maintain accurate records
  • Hang team member uniforms in the appropriate conveyor slot.
  • Processes all laundry requests not sent out to the outside laundry provider done in house such as Gym Clothes.
  • Mends, sews and repairs any garments as needed.
  • Handles all special requests in a timely and effective manner. Coordinates these requests with the outside laundry provider.
  • Collaborates with house attendants on restocking HoSTAR Carts
  • Notifies the housekeeping manager on duty of any property damage or missing items.
  • Participate in the hotel's Lost & Found Program
  • Reports any required repairs or maintenance.
  • Complies with all Work Rules, Safety Standards and Standards of Conduct as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Works harmoniously and professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
  • May be assigned other duties at the discretion of management.

Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities.

To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Essential:

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-worker, and management to their understanding.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to exert physical effort consistent with cleaning an industry standard number of rooms per shift
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule (AM, PM, Overnight, Weekends & Holidays).

Desirable:

  • One - two years prior experience in a similar role or related guest service experience.
  • Prior guest relations training.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • High School graduate or equivalent vocational training.

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, extending arms overhead, bending and stooping.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads. Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Physical Job Requirements: Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push carts or racks weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Bending/Kneeling: 30% of shift: May need to bend to lift items from time to time.
  • Mobility: 100% of shift: Must be able to walks
