MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must have 60 credit hours at an approved institution of higher learning, or must have passed the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test.
  • Must be able to successfully complete required Safe Schools training.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assists teacher in routine classroom operation.
  • Demonstrates understanding of student's problems.
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students and their program.
  • Follows through with prescribed behavioral management programs.
  • May attend Open house, conferences and planning meetings.
  • Keeps records, and assists with instructional activities.
  • Provide oneonone or small group instructional support to students under the direction of the classroom teachers and the Special Education Teacher.
  • Support student academic, behavioral, and emotional needs as outlined by a students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Provide positive and nurturing guidance for a student.
  • Assist classroom teachers in supporting Individualized Education Plans.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding district standards.
  • Interact and supervise students during noninstructional times.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning.
  • Corrects students' work related to assigned small groups or individual students.
  • Works as a team with the other paraprofessional's to support the learning process and supervision of students.
  • Helps students with instructional materials or instructional equipment assigned by the teacher.
  • Communicates with the special education teacher regarding the student's academic and behavioral needs on a weekly basis.
  • Operates copier, laminator and other equipment as needed.
  • Participates in district professional development.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the building principal to assist in student learning in classrooms or to provide supervision to students where needed
  • Supervises classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, lunchroom, detention, and playground as assigned by building principal.
