Position Description:


Reporting to the Director of Development, the Institutional Giving Manager takes the lead in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding long-term relationships with corporate and foundation donors to further the organization's fundraising goals.

This position will work closely with the Development Team and Raphael House program staff as they develop compelling grant proposals and comprehensive reports.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintain and grow Raphael House's portfolio of foundation, corporate, organization, and business donors ranging from $1,000 to $100,000+
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, comprehensive reports, and presentations for institutional partners that include relevant statistics and stories of impact
  • Collaborate with crossdepartmental staff to identify funding opportunities, collect relevant data, and ensure program needs are centered in grant language and funding requests
  • Facilitate a grant calendar and prospect research that takes into consideration fit, funding levels, deadlines, and likelihood; submit grant proposals and reports on time.
  • Effectively articulate Raphael House's programs and services and communicate a sound case for support to donors, prospects, and other partners
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports and lead restricted grant checkins in collaboration with the Finance team
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all interactions with prospects and donors using our CRM, Raiser's Edge
  • Support in preparing reports for Board, senior staff, and other key stakeholders of portfolio progress, including reports for Board and Committee meetings
  • Coordinate site visits, meetings, stewardship touchpoints, engagement events, and volunteer opportunities for institutional donors.
  • Explore and secure corporate sponsorships through strategic partnerships and sponsorship packages
  • Manage outside contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Lead the Institutional Giving Subcommittee and support with leading the Executive Leadership Committee (ELC) to ensure Board and ELC members are actively involved in our prospect research and help to provide warm introductions to institutional funders
  • In collaboration, with the Development Team and Family Services Team, manage the overall volunteer and inkind donation programs.
  • In collaboration with the development and program teams, manage donor communications, signups, and overall participation in the annual BacktoSchool and Adopt-AFamily campaigns, as well as ReadforNeed partnerships with schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (communications, nonprofit management, business, etc.); In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Proven track record of success in institutional fundraising, with experience in grant writing and relationship management.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities. Strong time management skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of fundraising databases and tools for prospect research and donor management.
  • Understanding of nonprofit financials and budgeting processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Operate with cultural humility and respect for all, and commit to working positively with staff and clients with different backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Able to work independently and seek supervision when appropriate.
  • Able to be flexible with working in a shared office space, as office spaces are limited, or as needed for onboarding of other staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. A writing sample may be requested.
