The Rockville Correctional Facility is an intake and medium security facility for adult females. Rockville Correctional Facility is located in Rockville, Indiana.

The Department of Correction developed the facility from an Air Force base into a juvenile male facility, to co-ed, and now to adult females alone, making it the largest female facility.

The Rockville Correctional Facility serves as the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, which involves a series of assessments to ensure each incarcerated individual is assigned to the facility and programming that best meets their needs.

Incarcerated individuals have multiple educational and vocational training opportunities, including cosmetology, parenting support and a partnership with Televerde that includes training and work opportunities inside the facility and post release.


Role Overview:


As a Maintenance Foreman at the Rockville Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance needs of the facility.

We are a full-service maintenance team that handles a wide variety of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds issues. You will be working Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours a day. In addition, you will be supervising Incarcerated Individuals when needed. We provide excellent customer service and utilize best security/safety practices. There are advancement opportunities for those who want to move into supervisory positions.


Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.


A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
  • Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
  • Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities
  • Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
  • Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
  • Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
  • Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
  • Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
  • Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
This role must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:


  • This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
