Responsibilities:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and complete necessary laboratory operations in ensure daily functioning & completion of normal assignments
  • Perform laboratory procedures according to lab policies and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Perform blood draws competently and efficiently with causing as little patient discomfort as possible
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain log entries, documentation records, patient notes, requisitions, and perform general clerical work
  • Accurately register client samples, order tests and cancel/add tests as required
  • Prioritize test orders by STAT, routine or other and alert laboratory staff as needed
  • Maintain adequate supplies for phlebotomy procedures & alert supervisorial staff for orders to ensure no interruption in normal functions
  • Exhibit proactive practices in effort to prevent accidents; maintains a safe, neat, and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff
  • Demonstrate team efforts, such as helping others when needed, and provides supportive feedback to team
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision
  • Participate in educational opportunities from staff training, inservices, professional development practices such as maintaining personal networks, reading professional publications and meeting required Continuing Education (CE) thresholds for recertification
  • Assist CLIAwaived Laboratory Supervisor in processing, accessioning and shipping of patient samples to Addiction Labs of America (ALA)
  • Assist in lab development projects of monthly goals provide feedback on shared projects to bolster efficiency of lab operations and collections in facility
  • Perform and record quality control as required by manufacturer's instructions and department protocol
  • Collect therapeutic drugmonitoring assays by collaborating with nursing personnel to ensure appropriate drug dose to collection time
  • Document and report adverse events during the work day, including patient interactions
  • Vital Sign Entry
  • Treatment Advocate (TA) duties as needed
  • TA safety rounds every 15 or 30 minutes

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of national exam to receive licensure as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT/PBT). This licensure verifies you have demonstrated the ability of all procedures and possesses knowledge of all facets in phlebotomy.
  • Licensure must be up to date and current at time of first day.
  • Exceptional bedside manner while handling patients.
  • Ability to perform aseptic technique, universal precautions, while following department procedures and facility policies.
  • Adherence to state and federal regulations within the scope of practice of professional services in a subacute healthcare setting.
  • Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by following facility standards and practice; complying with legal regulations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot unusual test orders, lab collections or defective lab equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in adhering to state and federal laboratory regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually. Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision required to drive an automobile, if driving is a requirement of the job.
