ASSISTANT, PATHOLOGY LABORATORY
Req# 16774LAB-PATHOLOGYPart time on-call, 2 - Evenings, 8 Position Description:
Under the overall supervision of the Laboratory director and the Laboratory Administrative Director or designee and under general supervision of the grossing pathologist. Assists pathologist in the receipt, organization of surgical tissue specimens, and autopsies and assures and logs specimens appropriately, processes, and disposes in a timely and safe manner. All tasks are to be done courtestly and correctly using judgment to respond appropriately to changing workload. May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
[Required] High school graduate or equivalent, preferable with higher education courses in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or hematology. Six months in a pathology laboratory with emphasis on computer data entry and pathology specimen processing and staining. Current pathology experience including assisting in receipt and processing surgical specimen. Good working knowledge of basic of basic clinical laboratory and pathology terminology; must be able to read, write and speak English. Basic computer keyboard skills and word processing of 20 wpm; ability to keep detailed records.
[Preferred] Pathology technical assistant experience.
Salary range: $ $34.28
