Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Project Controls Specialist with a solid background in project controls functions. The Project Controls Specialist is a key point of contact for numerous internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for all aspects of the position as outlined below.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performing responsibilities selfdirected and under mínimal supervision
  • Providing budget, contract, and financial management support to Project Managers
  • Interpreting contract terms and assisting Project Managers with maintaining the life cycle of projects per client requirements and company guidelines
  • Coordinating with project accounting staff to ensure invoices are submitted per established timelines and contractual requirements
  • Auditing project management reports for financial impacts and provisions for gross profit optimization
  • Assisting Project Managers with monthly forecasts and financial estimates
  • Supporting Project Managers with project/program enterprise structures (e.g. Work Breakdown Structures, and Cost Breakdown Structures as part of project budgeting and setup)
  • Performing and managing all budget and cost control functions
  • Preparing monthend reports, variance reports, and ad hoc reports as required
  • Performing analytics and interpreting project/program data for continuous improvement
  • Financial reconciliations as required

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience is required in all aspects of budget and cost controls including budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management
  • Requires a thorough understanding of project accounting methods and requirements
  • Solid understanding of principles and methods related to Earned Value Management
  • Ability to functionally coordinate with both internal and external business processes and to blend the requirements of both
  • Superior computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically desired: expertise in MS Excel)
  • Experience with MS Project and SQL /SharePoint Applications is a plus
  • Must be detailoriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to see the "big picture" and use common sense to make decisions
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to build trusting, longterm relationships
  • Experienced in working with and providing support to diverse groups in all levels of management
  • Experience working in Oracle is preferred

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Construction Management, Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering, Accounting/Finance, or Project Management.

5 years of experience in project/program controls, project management, or project accounting position
Experience working in a consulting or project management environment is strongly preferred.
