Job Summary:


Responsible for creating a clear and compelling story for the office of Quality, Compliance, and Oversight's (QCO) mission, vision, and efforts.

Work closely with QCO leadership and stakeholders (both internal and external) to craft and implement strategic communication for cohesive messaging across all channels within the MBTA.

Plan and lead communications-based projects for multiple audiences.

Facilitate, develop, and support QCO's overall communication goals including positioning within the MBTA, building scalable processes, and leading strategic communication planning for ongoing projects.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Work closely with QCO's leadership team to create and implement a strategic communications plan to meet the office's overall external goals.
  • Develop new strategies to increase clarity and expand reach of communications across the MBTA.
  • Collaborate with SMI teams on communications related to FTA required materials.
  • Facilitate the creation of internal communication materials related to the mission and vision of QCO and aid in the genesis of office culture communications for QCO staff.
  • Develop communication impact metrics to track effectiveness of communications efforts.
Communications Management

  • Create and oversee QCO's brand and communications strategy ensuring all communications further the goals of the office and are consistently packaged and disseminated to our key audiences.
  • Optimize communication and content creation by instituting new process and utilizing project management technology.
  • Serve as a key steward of the QCO brand; work with internal teams to develop messaging and playbook to communicate areas of QCO's work, including specific departments (ex. Quality Management) as well as events (ex. board meetings) and publications (ex. TSTOP) with the rest of the MBTA.
  • Provide guidance on QCO communications materials and support leadership in preparing tailored messaging.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other SMI colleagues on communication related materials required by the FTA. Act as a central hub of communication and planning across other internal comms teams and QCO.
Internal/External Communications (Day-to-Day)

  • Draft and disseminate outbound content and communications on a regular cadence as necessary.
Stakeholder and Project Management

  • Ensure sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge among colleagues across the MBTA regarding ongoing QCO communications/content projects. This includes regular meetings, project specific meetings, and utilization of project management tools for asynchronous internal communications.
  • Grow strong intra
- and interdepartmental relationships to foster a collaborative environment.

Other

  • Manage and direct Communications staff and PMO support.
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.

Supervision

  • Possible supervision of deputy directors or other reports as the team grows.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Communications, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in communications or public outreachrelated field.
  • Five (5) years of leadership, managerial, and/or supervisory experience.
  • Wellversed in content planning and creative communication strategies.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Event scheduling experience, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiar with virtual meeting platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Social media savvy and familiar with social media marketing tools.
  • Ability to build strategic customer relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ability to coordinate and work in concert with clients, team members, other contractors and consultants.
