Associate Designer


The role of the Associate Designer is to support the Senior Designer of the division(s) and design team in various aspects of the product development process.

Additionally, the Associate Designer will assist with overseeing line completion, adhering to calendar due dates, and maintaining up to date communication with private label design teams, vendors, and internal team.


What you will do:


  • Design Assistance
  • Collaborating with senior designer to create and develop new apparel designs
  • Research current fashion trends and market preferences
  • Assisting/Attending in internal design, fabric, private label design meetings
  • Handling overseas development tech packs, communication, and follow up
  • Sample Execution Assistance
  • Assist in Sample execution
  • Oversee work of Patternmakers: check on workload, request patterns, submit changes per style
  • Check on styles from the cutters/sewing team
  • Review final samples for buyer meetings/ sending out; during meetings look for threads, hanger appeal, missing trims, correct fabric/colors
  • Other Important Tasks
  • Works with CAD/Textile artists. Request CADs, prints, sketches, and revisions from Artists
  • Assist in revisions of CADs
  • Request 3D Forms as it applies
  • Proficient in Sketching, will sketch as needed
  • Send out washes and fabrics to dye
  • Test new washes to evaluate their impact on the garment's appearance and quality
  • Lab Dip/ Wash review to ensure they match the desired color and finish
  • Processes sample requests; sends out and tracks packages
  • Maintains awareness of the design calendar and helps meet deadlines
  • Tags/photographs all styles

All other duties as may be assigned.

  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday. There will be overtime and some weekends based on business needs and project deadlines.

What we are looking for:


  • Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience and training in the apparel industry
  • Must be Familiar with garment construction
  • Knowledge of Tech Pack creation and working with overseas factories
  • Must have inhouse garment development experience
  • Proficient/Advanced in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to listen and incorporate ideas into new designs or products
    as needed
  • Ability to follow through on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities
  • Must have organizational and note taking skills
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to problemsolve and communicate any issues to the team
