Duration of Assignment: 3 months - up to 8 months

Work hours: 8 am-4:30 pm

**The role requires experience in medical records with a focus on the integrity of the data. An HIM (Health Information Management) Tech would be ideal for this role IF they have data analysis and intermediate Excel experience as well.


- Job Description:


Assists and coordinates with HIM coding, electronic record education, Analysis, and record deficiencies completion in the day-to-day operations of the HIM Coding process.

3 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care facility.
Preferred data entry and basic office skills, i.e.; fax, copy machine, printer, and computer.
Preferred knowledge of, but not limited to the following systems:
Cerner process and workflow, Synapse radiology system, Allscripts Clinic notes, and Aria/Varian radiation oncology notes.


This position will also:

Assist with work distribution and inventory of cases to be coded

  • Monitors the daytoday support needs of HIM coders and CDI Team
  • Coordinates locating documents for coding process and assignments for completion.
  • Monitoring and addressing coder workflow hold
  • Provides necessary followup for CDI/Coding Queries
  • Following defined workflow that will utilize the clerical time efficiently
  • The accurate and timely distribution of dictated reports and necessary ancillary reports into EMR for coding when available
  • Able to utilize Chart Script System, registration system and billing system effectively
  • Understands all principles of the electronic patient folder system
  • Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally
  • Works collaboratively with peers for optimal workflow.
  • Performs Other Duties as Assigned by Manager/Director or designee
